Taco Plaza

Taco Plaza is transforming an underutilized parking lot at 2600 Northgate Boulevard into a vibrant, permanent community gathering space. In partnership with Tacos La Piedad, the Gardenland Northgate Neighborhood Association, the Office of Councilmember Karina Talamantes, the Office of Innovation & Economic Development, and the Sacramento Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Foundation, this project builds on the existing taco truck activity that already brings people together at the site.

Taco Plaza recognizes tacos as more than food—they represent connection, culture, and community. With permanent seating, planters, lighting, shade trees, an iconic “TACO” letter installation, and a community-painted ground mural, the plaza creates a welcoming space where neighbors from all walks of life can gather, share meals, and make lasting memories along Northgate Boulevard.

Fong Ranch Park

Fong Ranch Park is a nearly 4-acre community park in South Natomas that adds to Sacramento’s network of more than 200 City parks and provides residents with new outdoor recreational space. Operated by the City’s Youth, Parks, & Community Enrichment Department, the park features a children’s farm-themed playground, basketball court, youth soccer field, open turf area, and a group picnic area with a shade structure. Approved by City Council in 2021 and with construction beginning in October 2022, Fong Ranch Park opened to the community in 2024.

Thelma Park

Thelma Park transformed a once-vacant corner in South Natomas into a welcoming neighborhood space for play, connection, and community. Located at Thelma and Hawk avenues, the park now provides local families and residents with a new place to gather and enjoy the outdoors.

The 0.23-acre park at 2324 Thelma Ave. includes a shaded playground, picnic area, benches, and drought-tolerant landscaping. Designed with community input, Thelma Park reflects the City’s commitment to sustainability and investing in neighborhood parks that enhance quality of life.

Tanzanite Park Futsal Court Lighting Project

The Tanzanite Community Park futsal courts have been allocated funding for new lighting, which will allow for safer evening use once installed. The lighting will cover the courts, pathways, and parking lot, addressing a long-standing community request and improving park access after dark.

Truxel Bridge

Truxel Bridge Project is a long-planned transportation and connectivity initiative designed to link South Natomas with Downtown Sacramento across the American River. After more than a decade of planning, the Sacramento City Council approved a preferred bridge design, moving the project into its next phase. The multi-use bridge concept includes dedicated space for vehicles, public transit, bicyclists, and pedestrians, supporting multiple travel options while improving regional access. The project aims to address growing transportation needs as Sacramento continues to expand and to improve connections where limited river crossings currently exist. Next steps include completing required environmental review and identifying funding sources before construction can begin, with implementation anticipated in phases over the long term.
