Sacramento taking suggestions for renaming of Cesar Chavez Plaza

The City of Sacramento is conducting a survey to glean community sentiment around the renaming of Cesar E. Chavez Plaza.

Aside from outright asking for specific suggestions of what the park’s new name should be, the survey also asks participants what themes or values, such as “Downtown Sacramento’s evolution” and “labor and worker rights history” they’d like the name to reflect.

“This process is about listening to our community and creating meaningful opportunities for neighbors to share their perspectives,” said Vice Mayor Karina Talamantes. “Our Downtown Park is an important public space with deep connections to Sacramento’s history and culture, and community input will help shape the recommendations that create its future.”

The survey is available on the city website through July 24 in both English and Spanish.
